Patrick Child has been the Managing Director for Administration and Finance and Chief Operating Officer ad-interim since November 2014 – European External Action Service (EEAS). Main responsibilities among others: strategic management of human resources, finances and security for the External Action Service. Direct responsibility of a staff of 350 in 3 directorates and 13 divisions (units) and oversight of the management of the network of 140 EU delegations employing a total of 5,500 EEAS and Commission staff Establishing and consolidating the EEAS as an administratively and financially autonomous service; fostering and promoting the corporate culture of the new organisation while maintaining strong co-operation with Member States, the Commission and other EU institutions. Extensive travel to all regions in the world to support the work of the delegations
